Why Should You Donate to Art House Astoria?

The end of the tax year is quickly approaching, and we’re asking that you consider making a tax-deductible donation to Art House Astoria. You may wonder why we rely on donations to operate since we run a tuition-based program? Well, aside from providing high-quality arts education to the community, we also provide the following:

Low Tuition

It is the mission of Art House Astoria to provide a high-quality arts education to our community at an affordable price.  The good news is that we’ve been able to accomplish this for six years straight without once increasing our rates even though our overhead expenses have steadily increased. In fact, there’s not a school in Queens that compares to Art House Astoria when you compare the quality of instruction you receive here for the price.

A Teaching Artist Program at P.S. 166

P.S. 166 is an Astoria grade school with over 1,200 students enrolled and only ONE MUSIC TEACHER! We’re helping this under-served school reach more kids with arts education by providing teachers for special general music classes every Friday. Currently we are able to cover 8 of the 10 second grade classes with the funding that’s available. We’d like to at least cover all second grade classes with the hope of serving more grades in the near future.

Salon Series

Art House Astoria regularly offers free events such as our regular Salon Series where anyone from the community can enjoy free refreshments and perform for a captive audience. Constructive feedback is offered by one or more of the many talented professional musicians and artists that we have on faculty. A piano accompanist is also provided free of charge. And, it’s open to all ages and levels!

Art House Astoria Carolers

As the holiday season draws near, we’ll soon be starting rehearsals for the Art House Astoria Community Carolers. This is a free program, open to anyone to come and sing their favorite holiday carols while walking around the Astoria neighborhood spreading holiday cheer.

We have so many exciting plans for the future but we need funding to turn these programs into a reality. We’re currently raising money for the following:

Need-Based Financial Assistance

We at Art House Astoria believe every child is entitled to an education in the arts. Unfortunately school districts are underfunded and arts programs are the first to go. The sluggish economy and job market mean many parents are unable to afford tuition-based arts programs for their children. We want to do what we can to help by offering financial assistance for tuition to those in need.

Concert/Master Class Series

We’re also raising money to create a concert and master class series with some very exciting artists. We’re already in talks with several high-profile Broadway performers to be our first guests.

Donations may be made via cash, check, or credit card both in-person, online or over the phone. Upon receipt of your generous donation, we will provide you with a letter of acknowledgement that confirms the amount donated so that you can deduct that from your taxes.

Our membership program is an excellent way to support Art House and get discount on services! The majority of your membership fee is tax deductible and comes with benefits such as discounted lessons and classes, discounted event tickets, and discounts from neighborhood businesses.

There’s no better advertisement than good, old-fashioned word-of-mouth. If you enjoy the programs we offer, then we hope you’ll spread the word to anyone you know who may be interested making a donation, becoming a member, or taking a class.

Art House Astoria is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization.
